Lemonade

A tribe for women living with the effects of sexual assault
You know that feeling — your life is more or less under control, and then somethin triggers you and you go sliding back down the spiral? Or you're actually in a great stretch, and then a word, a gesture, even a look tightens your neck and shoulders and reminds you that the trauma is still there — even when you thought you'd already won?
How good would it be if, in those moments, we weren't alone?
Lemonade — a tribe of women living with the aftermath of sexual assault and rape.
We're not here to feel sorry for ourselves.
We were handed lemons — together, we'll make lemonade.
You don't have to tell us what happened to you.
We focus on the here and now — you're welcome to join us

Before I created Toolkit for Rape Recovery, I discovered that a lot of the behaviors I'd thought were "broken" in me were typical, normal responses to a deeply abnormal situation. The relief was huge — I'm not alone, and it's not my fault. I built the Toolkit so that any woman who finds herself in this
"club" would know what I'd already figured out.
Now, ten years later, the conditions are finally right for real closeness — through a digital community.
What is Lemonade?
Lemonade is a digital tribe — a space where women who've been through sexual assault come together to tell a new story, heal, and grow. A place to feel a little more normal, and to share the things we've learned along the way.
The focus isn't on the assault itself — it's on how we live with its effects in our day-to-day lives.
One thing to be clear about up front — I'm not a therapist, and Lemonade isn't a therapy group or a support group. It's a tribe of women who lift each other up, learning together from the lived experience of women who have walked — and are still walking — this path.
What we're really after: gently, in our own time — gathering up the broken pieces, holding them close, piecing them back together, and filling the cracks with gold.
And in real terms — every woman who joins this community walks away with her quality of life a little better than before.
